INTRODUCTION
The Michigan Regional Community Policing
Institute (RCPI) is one institute in a National Network of institutes
funded through the United States Office of Community Oriented Policing
Service (COPS). The RCPI Network is charged with institutionalizing the
principles of community policing in law enforcement agencies through
innovative community policing training and technical assistance.
The Michigan RCPI is located within the
School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. The School of
Criminal Justice originated in 1935 at Michigan State University,
making it the oldest continuous
degree granting criminal justice program in the United States.
The Michigan RCPI has developed training
and technical assistance initiatives to enhance police knowledge of
terrorist and criminal extremist groups. This program has been
developed to supplement and enhance law enforcement’s efforts through
community knowledge and involvement. It is hoped that the information
presented adds to your personal feelings of security and well being.
Being informed is the best way to take control and reduce fear.
