Former MSU professor dies
A former MSU professor and federal investigator for the U.S. Civil Service Commission, died Wednesday in his home in Lansing.
Frank D. Day, 72 former professor of criminal justice, was an MSU faculty member for 16 years.
He first came to the University in 1956 as an associate professor of police administration and public safety. He served as a professor of criminal justice from 1960 until his retirement in 1972.
Before coming to MSU, Day served as lieutenant in the New York City Police Department. he also served as a presidential guard for Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 240 Military Police Battalion.
Day earned his bachelor of science and bachelor of law degrees from St. John's University in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife Frances, four children, 3 grandchildren and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan, Lansing.
The rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. at the Palmer Bush Funeral Home, 520 E. Mt. Hope Road, Lansing.
