Background
For several years, I taught the Interuniversity Consortium on Political
and Social Research course, Quantitative Analysis of Criminal Justice Data.
This provided expertise in locating and using archived data, collected
by other researchers, to test theoretically and policy relevant hypotheses.
My own data collection efforts (sometimes with colleagues) have resulted
in several types of data available for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Opportunities for Students

Selecting and using available data, particularly data related to wife abuse,
women offenders and correctional programming for women, and policewomen.

Using data in the following data sets for the purpose of (1) obtaining
research experience (e.g., data entry and coding, data analysis, preparation
of reports) and/or (2) writing articles for publication.

Survey of correctional administrators re: programming for women offenders

Evaluation of women in traditional and gender responsive programming

Evaluation of life-skills programming for women offenders

Domestic violence and response to domestic violence among Vietnamese American
women

Observation data on of women police

Survey data on the experiences of women police, including harassment, bias,
stress, and coping with job-related problems, among other things.

Participating in qualitative or quantitative data collection for various
ongoing research projects. Current projects include those focused
on programming for women offenders and intimate partner abuse of Asian
Americans, among other topics.
